This Weekend: First Aid, CPR, AED Training & Readyman Activity Badge

NOTE:  THIS IS A BROWN BAG LUNCH EVENT.  BRING A LUNCH

This weekend is an opportunity for all parents, leaders, webelos scouts & boy scouts to attain their American Red Cross First Aid, CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and AED (automated external defibrillator) training and certification.   These are the official certifications and meet the needs of workplace responders, professional rescuers, school staff, professional responders and healthcare providers, as well as the general public.

  • First Aid: Learn how to respond to common first aid emergencies, including burns; cuts; head, neck and back injuries and more. Pediatric option available.
  • CPR/AED: Learn how to respond to cardiac and breathing emergencies in adults, including the use of automated external defibrillators (AED).

Certifications, regardless of which you test for, will cost $20 to process with the American Red Cross.  This is a one time fee and covers one or both certifications; certifications will last 2 years.  The Scouts need to be physically capable of performing chest compressions in order to certify for CPR.  Any Webelos scout unable to perform the compressions is still eligible for his First Aid certification but will be unable to obtain his CPR certification.

All Parents, regardless of your scout’s level, are welcome to take this course and get certified as you can never have enough first aid/cpr/aed trained people at a scouting event.  If your job requires this training, certification is normally around $75 every 2 years. Even if you have a year left on your current certification for $20 you get an extra year.

All leaders within the pack are strongly encouraged to take the course and get certified.

The event will be from 8:00 Am until approximately 2:00-2:30 PM.  Lunch WILL NOT be provided, please bring a lunch.  More details can be found on the event page at http://cubpack155.org/x/6G

Rank Requirements

It is recommended that scouts, regardless of rank, read up on their appropriate requirements and ask questions during training. All requirements can be found in your Webelos Handbook, Boy Scout Handbook, and Venturing Handbook/Ranger Guide.
