Webelos 1 update 12-8

Webelos BadgeTonight, the Webelos started the Citizen Activity. Citizen and Fitness are the 2 required activities to earn the Webelos badge. The boys completed requirements 1,2,4,6,7 and 9. They partially completed 3,5, and 8. The  scouts also started the required citizenship belt loop. For homework, scouts have to list 3 people they think are good american citizens and why (Req 13). Family members who served our country are always acceptable answers! They also have to write down what the pledge of  Allegiance means to them. The boys made a list of their weekly chores. They have to put a check next to each day they do it. Next week, the boys will finish up with flag etiquette and make a poster about being a good citizen. This will complete the citizen activity and Citizenship belt loop.

Pioneer Webelos Update 12-8

imageTonight, the Pioneers earned their Chess Belt Loop. This is one of the requirements for the Scholar Activity. Next week, we will start the Technology portion of the STEM awards. Some scouts still have to turn in the Engineering homework from 2 weeks ago. This homework was watching a Lego video on YouTube and drawing their own machine.

2015 Dues Deadline

DuesJust a quick reminder that the deadlines to have your 2015 dues paid in full has arrived. Your 2015 Dues of $120 need to be paid in full by Monday December 8th and will cover the entire year from January 1st  through December 31st.

We will be working on the Charter renewal paperwork the week of the 8th and submitting it to Council by December 15th.  Those who have not paid will need to re-register which means a new application will need to be submitted with appropriate registration fees.

Dues are important and are what allows the pack to function. They provide for needed supplies used in regular activities and more importantly they keep your scout insured.

Webelos Update 11-17

Webelos Badge
The Webelos have been very busy the last 3 days!

On Saturday, we had our Scouting for Food Drive and our first sleepover at the gym.

On Sunday, almost all of the Webelos went to the Academy of Natural Sciences. They attended a 2 hour workshop to earn their Forrester and Naturalist activities. Despite being sleep deprived from the overnighter, the boys were very well behaved.
On Monday night, the first year Webelos worked on the Sportsman activity. They completed requirements 1 and 2. Scouts who were involved in our summer activities completed requirement 3 and 4 to earn the activity. Our newer scouts need 2 individual sports loops and 2 team loops to complete the activity.

To date, the boys have played kickball and softball to earn their team sports. If they completed the Athlete activity, they would have earned the physical fitness belt loop for one of the individual sports. If the scouts are up to date, they only need one more belt loop to finish the Sportsman.

The Pioneers started the Engineering section of the STEM awards. For homework, they have to watch a video on lego machines and read about gears, cranks, and cams.

A quick reminder: Next week is our first pack meeting. Scouts will receive everything they earned up until November 1st. Sportsman, Forrester, and Naturalist will not be awarded until the next pack meeting.

Webelos Meeting 11-10-14

Webelos Badge

At tonight’s meeting, all the scouts rotated through 3 stations. First, the boys made bird feeders out of pine cones, bird seed, and shortening. This completes 1 of the 4 projects not made from wood for the Craftsman Activity. Next, the boys made posters about the fun they had over the summer during scout activities. These posters will be on display at the pack meeting. Finally, the boys played softball in the gym with Wiffle balls. All scouts earned the softball belt loop and it qualifies as one of the team sports required for the Sportsman activity.
Next week, the first year Webelos will be going over the umpire signals in baseball and what it means to be a good sport for the Sportsman activity. Scouts who participated in summer camps or the day at the swim club will complete the activity. The other scouts may need to earn a few more sports belt loops to complete the Activity.

The Pioneers will start the Engineering section of the STEM awards.

Attention ALL Parents…

Good Evening Parents! We hope you all had a great week/weekend. For tomorrow’s meeting ALL Cub Scouts should wear regular play clothes, NOT their Scout uniform. We’ll be working on a few things: softball belt loops, pine cone bird feeders, leaf rubbings and some of the returning Scouts will be working on a project with Ms. Karen. So come prepared to have fun !!
