Pennypack Bridge

This is a great family event that celebrates some of our local history. The bridge was built in 1697 and is one of the oldest stone arch bridges still in continuous use.  The will be having activities and a dedication along with access to different exhibits, re-enactors, and historians.  George Washington, Benjamin Franklin and his wife will be there to meet and greet.

The event is this Saturday October 13th from 10am – 2pm. It is being held at the Frankford & Solly ave section of Pennypack Park. Parking may get difficult so I advise people to arrive a little early as the march across the bridge will begin promptly at 10am.

For more information you can check out the invite:  http://www.w3r-us.org/temp-web/pa-bridge_flyer2.pdf

Although this is not an official pack event there is much for your scout to learn and achieve by visiting the bridge. Also if your scout wears his Class A uniform he will have an opportunity to participate in a scavenger hunt and upon completing the hunt he will be awarded a special bandana.

Photo Section Coming Soon

As you may have noticed there is a new section on the site (on the menu at the top) for pack photos.  We haven’t imported any of the photos into the site yet, but they are coming soon.  If you have any photos that you would like to share please send us an email using the contact page.  We do not have an official pack photographer so we rely on family & friends to share their photos with us.

Bear Achievements & Electives

As a service to parents, in order to be able to readily access the requirements and electives their boys need while out and about, we began posting all of the achievements & electives for each rank.  We are pleased to announce that all of the Bear Cub Achievements on the Bear Trail and all of the Bear Cub Electives for the Bear Arrow Point Trail have been completed.  However, it is not all that is done.  The Achievements for Tiger Cubs and the Achievements for Wolf Cubs are also complete, however the electives for both of these ranks are still in progress and Webelos information has not yet begun.

Eventually, we will create a menu item for the ranks but until they are finished it was decided to leave the menu item out to avoid unnecessary indexing of the site by search engines as the lists update and change.

So how do you access this information?

On the website, in the upper right hand corner, there are icons representing each of the Cub Scout ranks from Bobcat (required by all cubs) through Webelos. You can simply click on any of these icons and you will be taken to the page for the respective rank.

Rank Icon Links

Alternatively you can simply add the rank to the end of our website url.  For example; http://cubscoutpack1776.scouting1776.org/bear  will take you directly to the bear page.  If you need a shortened url to share the link you can simply use http://cubpack155.org/bear

Right now the site isn’t optimized for smaller screens (phones, tablets, etc..) however I will make it responsive in the future so that it will automatically reformat itself according to the device you are browsing on.

I hope you find this useful and make use of it when you are out with your son so you can look up achievements and electives that you can cover together as a family. Once complete simply sign off on it in the book and show me his book.

User Registrations Enabled

I have the security tightened down enough to allow user registrations now.  You can register and login to the site via the “Login” link at the bottom of the page.  Once I get to the point where I am working on the theme (appearance of the site), I will go ahead and implement easier ways to log in and modify your profiles.

Over the next couple days you may see some changes to the registration process as I further tighten it down but at this point security is stable and most comment & registration spam should be thwarted.

Enough of that, why would you want to register?

Mainly so you can interact, as we post events you will be able to comment on them engage in discussion or even help plan without having to rely on another site.  More importantly, this is a private site and we want interaction to be among the pack’s community and not just the general public.  Only someone with an active interest in the pack will take the time to register. As a result, as the site matures there is a good chance that things such as photos, downloads, forms etc… will require an active account to access.

Enjoy!

New Event Calendar

The calender is set up, it works and is fully functional.  I just have to populate it now.  This calendar will be the official source for all pack 155 events.

It is a safe assumption that unless otherwise noted on this calendar, or you are notified by other means, that we will be meeting at 7:00 pm at the gym for a normal pack meeting.

Along with populating the calendar, next on the list will be a contact form.  The contact form will allow you to contact any of the leaders individually or as a group.  Then we will worry about appearances of the site.

Enjoy,

Cubmaster.

Welcome to Cub Scout Pack 1776!

Welcome to our new site!  Please excuse the mess while we get this site in shape for your use.  The very first thing we plan on doing before we even begin working on appearances is get a fully functional calendar up and running.  This calendar will be where you can find all of the latest information without having to worry about missing an update. All will be posted here and accessible from any web browser on a Computer, Tablet or Phone with an Internet connection and a web browser.  After the Calendar is up, the next step is to start making the site look a bit more presentable. From there, hopefully the site will find use as a source of useful information for parents and scouts alike.  I hope you like what we have planned here.
