Pumpkin Fest After Dark has been Rescheduled.

Due to the potential for inclement weather, Pumpkin Fest After Dark at Shady Brook Farms has been rescheduled for October 18th. All families who have purchased tickets will be able to use them next Thursday evening.

Meeting Update

The first few weeks of the scouting season have been filled tons of fun and all Dens have been working on the Bobcat Rank including learning/ relearning the cub scout oath, law, hand shake and scout sign.Last evening, the Tigers, Wolves, and Bears practiced the Scout Moto and Law by playing a matching game with other Scouts.

The Webelo’s Den worked with Arrow of Lights to master their knot tying abilities.

Open House-Tonight

Cub Scout Open House

Tonight, is our open house from 6:30- 8:30pm. New families will be joining us to learn what cub scouting is all about. If you have a friend or family member who may be interested in what Scouting has to offer, bring them along and if that friend joins and pays their 2019 dues in full, the referring scout earns their recruiter badge.

All current scouts are reminded to be in full uniform, as well as exhibit the core values of scouting and help make the new scouts feel welcome. They should take the time to introduce themselves, introduce new scouts to other pack members & leaders, as well as assist them with earning the Bobcat rank.

Pumpkin Fest Afterdark at Shady Brook Farms

This year, Pack 1776 will be participating in Pumpkin Fest After Dark at Shady Brook Farms. This is a great opportunity for scouts and their families to come out and enjoy a fun filled night under the moonlight.

Welcome to the 2018-2019 Scouting Season

Just a reminder that the 2018-2019 Scouting Season starts back up this evening from 7-8pm.

We hope everyone had a great summer and enjoyed camping and even resident camp; we look forward  to hearing about all of the fun things your scouts did over the summer, as well as seeing you this evening.

As a reminder, we have our Open House Monday September 24th. This is the time of the year for returning scouts to bring in any friends or family interested in scouting. So have your scout bring a friend and if that friend joins and pays their 2019 dues in full, the referring scout earns their recruiter badge, shown to the right. During this time we will have a lot of new scouts showing up with an interest in scouting. We expect that our seasoned scouts will exhibit the core values of scouting and help make the new scouts feel welcome. They should take the time to introduce themselves, introduce new boys to other pack members & leaders, as well as assist them with earning the Bobcat rank.

Service Day at Musser Scout Reservation

On Saturday, September 15th Pack 1776 will be participating in a Service Day at Musser Scout reservation. Participants will receive a Free Service Day T-Shirt, Free Service Day Patch and a Free lunch provided at Camp Hart. Participants can also win door prizes which include camp merchandise and even a campership. This a great opportunity for scouts to give back to a camp that has given them great opportunities in addition to earning service hours.

Tent Camping at Hibernia County Park

Our August Camping trip to Hibernia County Park is just a just a little over a month away, with that it is time to start collecting headcounts and payments.

When: August 17th- August 19th
Where: Hibernia County Park
Cost: $20 per person
Includes: All meals (Friday dinner through Sunday Breakfast & Campfire Snacks)

Headcounts and payments must be received no later than August 8th. Headcounts can be made by email to dgriess@cubscoutpack1776.org

We will be available at the Saints United Gym Wednesday July 18th , August 1st and 8th between the hours of 7:00 PM and 8:00 PM to collect payments.

Tent Camping at Camp Delmont

 

Just a reminder that our first camping trip of the summer is this weekend, June 15th-17th at Camp Delmont. We will be Camping at Camp Site 1 (MAP.) and the arrival time is any time after 6pm on Friday.

 

 

 

 

Weather

The weather is expected to be mostly sunny weekend with the temperature ranging between 59-87°,so you may want to pack a light jacket for the evening.

 

Outdoor Essentials for Cub Scouts

  • Personal first aid kit
  • Filled water bottle
  • Flashlight with spare bulb and batteries
  • Whistle
  • Rain Gear
  • Sunscreen
  • Trail Food
  • Map & Compass

With permission and appropriate training:

  • Pocketknife (Whittling Chip required for scout activities)

** If you or your scout require any medications please be sure to bring them and store them in a zip lock bag **

What you have above, is the basics necessary for taking care of yourself outdoors. It is vital to always have the above with your regardless of the activity type you are participating in.

Now for our camping trip the following items, in addition to the items above, are necessary for this weekend to be a successful and safe weekend.

  • Backpack for your gear
  • Scout Uniform hat or billed hat (ball cap)
  • A knit cap is great to sleep in if you get cold easily
  • Clothes to sleep in (pajamas or sweats)
  • Sweatshirt and/or Jacket
  • Hiking boots (it is recommended that you scotchguard them)
  • Rain Gear (jacket and pants preferred over poncho)
  • Extra shoes, socks & underwear.
  • Extra set of clothes
  • Tent, poles, and stakes
  • Waterproof ground cloth (tarp or plastic sheet)
  • Sleeping bag +20 degree recommended (if it has cartoons or super-heroes on it it is NOT a sleeping bag)
  • Sleeping Pad
  • Pillow
  • Extra blanket (optional but could be necessary).
  • Insect Repellent
  • Sunscreen
  • Cup or Mug and Mess Kit
  • Toilet paper (remove tube, crush and put in zip lock bag) this is a must have !!!
  • Toothbrush and Toothpaste
  • Soap, washcloth, towel
  • Cub Scout Handbook (in plastic bag)
  • Good Attitude!

Recruitment Regatta

With one scouting year ending and another one is right around the corner. Pack 1776 is hosting our first RAINGUTTER REGATTA Recruitment Event.

When: June 9th, 2018

From: 10am-2pm

Where: Saints United Lutheran Church

Grab a friend and come out for a day of fun building a boat and sharing the joys of scouting. If your friend joins, you will receive the recruiter badge.
