Camping: Fort Washington State Park

Cub Scout Pack 1776 will be camping at Fort Washington State Park. The cost for the trip will be $20 per person and includes: Saturday Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner; Sunday Breakfast; and Campfire Snacks.

Fort Washington State Park is rich in modern recreational facilities and historical significance. The park takes its name from the temporary fort built by George Washington’s troops in the fall of 1777, before heading to Valley Forge. Fort Washington blossoms with flowering dogwood in the spring and the park is popular with hikers and picnickers. The seasonal migration of raptors is enjoyed by many avid birders from the parks observation tower.

Fort Washington has 3.5 miles of trails, fishing, a disc golf course, a softball field and lots of space to play and do activities. Scouts are welcome to bring bikes, fishing gear, and those scouts who have earned their whittling chip will be allowed, with parental approval, to bring their pocketknives.

If you plan on attending please email Dan Griess (dgriess@cubscoutpack1776.org). Payments for the camping trip can be paid at the gym on July 10, July 24, or Aug 7 between 7:00-8:00pm or at any of our other Summer activities.

Camping: Safeguard Castle, Camp Garrison

We will be camping at the Safeguard Castle in Camp Garrison, part of Musser Scout Reservation. Safeguard Castle is an indoor facility with a capacity of 40 people. Each floor hold 16 bunks for people to sleep in and then 2 rooms on each floor, sleeping 2, for adult leaders.  Those who wish to do so, may be able to set up a tent on the grounds as well but we would have to investigate. Scouts would be required to sleep indoors. Meals included will be Friday cracker barrel, Saturday breakfast, Saturday Dinner, Sunday Breakfast, and campfire snacks.

On Saturday we will be attending Fall Fest at Camp Hart, also part of Musser Scout Reservation, which includes Saturday’s lunch. More details about the Fall Fest activity can be found at: Fall Fest

Attending Fall Fest is a required part of this camping trip for all campers, scouts & adults

Several of our leaders have worked together in order to make arrangements with the camp, in order to keep the total cost, for adults, similar to the cost of a normal state park camping trip. The cost for scouts and siblings would be an extra $15 to cover program costs. Therfore the cost for the weekend is $13 per person plus the cost of Fall Fest; $22 for participants; $7 for adults.  The total cost, for the weekend, including Fall Fest, would be $20 per adult and $35 per scout, includes all meals.
