Bobcat
The Bobcat Rank is the first rank all new scouts will earn, regardless of age or grade. Complete all seven of the Bobcat Requirements
Tiger
Wolves are scouts who are in the first grade or 7 years of age; they may be 6 years if they have completed Kindergarten.
Rank advancement is awarded when each Scout has done the following:
- Complete each of the six required Tiger Adventures.
- In addition to the six required Tiger Adventures listed above, complete at least one elective Tiger Adventure of your den or family’s choosing.
- With your parent, guardian, or other caring adult, complete the exercises in the pamphlet How to Protect your Children from Child Abuse: A Parent’s Guide.
- Earn the Cyber Chip award for your age*.
Wolf
Wolves are scouts who are in the second grade or 8 years of age; they may be 7 years if they have completed first grade.
Rank advancement is awarded when each Scout has done the following:
- Complete each of the six required Wolf Adventures.
- Complete one of the elective Wolf Adventures of your den or family’s choosing.
- With your parent or adult partner:
- Complete the exercises in the pamphlet How to Protect your Children from Child Abuse: A Parent’s Guide,
- Earn the Cyber Chip award for your age*.
Bear
Bears are scouts who are in the third grade or 9 years of age; they may be 8 years if they have completed second grade.
Rank advancement is awarded when each Scout has done the following:
- Complete each of the six required Bear Adventures.
- In addition to the six required Bear Adventures listed above, complete at least one elective Bear Adventure of your den’s or family’s choosing.
- With your parent, guardian, or other caring adult, complete the exercises in the pamphlet How to Protect your Children from Child Abuse: A Parent’s Guide.
- Earn the Cyber Chip award for your age*.
Webelos
Webelos are scouts who are in the fourth grade or fifth grade and 10 years of age; they may be 9 years of age if they have completed the 3rd grade, or 11 years of age having progressed from the Webelos rank.** In fourth grade they complete the Webelos rank requirements after which they move into the fifth grade and work on their Arrow of Light.
Webelos Requirements
- Be an active member of your Webelos den for three months. (Being active means having good attendance, paying your den dues, and working on den projects.)
- Complete each of the five core Required Webelos Adventures.
- IN addition to the five Required Webelos Adventures above, complete at least one Elective Adventure of your den’s or family’s choosing (for a total of at least six adventures).
- With your parent, guardian, or other caring adult, complete the exercises in the pamphlet How to Protect your Children from Child Abuse: A Parent’s Guide.
- Earnthe Cyber Chip award for your age*.
Arrow of Light Requirements
- Be active in your Webelos den for at least six months since completing the fourth grade or for at least six months since becoming 10 years old. (Being active means having good attendance, paying your den dues, and working on den projects.)
- Complete each of the four core Arrow of Light Required Adventures with your den or family.
- Building a Better World
- Duty to God in Action
- Outdoorsman (formerly Camper) Option A OR Option B
- Scouting Adventure
- Complete three of the Webelos Elective Adventures of your den or family’s choosing.
- With your parent, guardian, or other caring adult, complete the exercises in the pamphlet How to Protect your Children from Child Abuse: A Parent’s Guide.
- Earn the Cyber Chip award for your age*.
Notes
* If your family does not have Internet access at home AND you do not have ready Internet access at school or another public place or via a mobile device, the Cyber Chip portion of this requirement may be waived by your parent or adult partner.
** An 11 year old boy, new to scouts, should strongly consider going into the Boy Scouts since 11 is the starting age for Boy Scouts (10½ if the Arrow of Light has been earned). However if it is the beginning of the school year and the 11 year old is in fifth grade he may choose to join his peers in the Webelos Den working on the Arrow of Light until they cross over into the Boy Scouts.
