Dear Cub Scout Families,
As the Scout Motto Says – Be Prepared – WE ARE PREPARED for an awesome summer camp season! Even in this ever-changing world in which we all are living, your camp leadership teams are still preparing for an exciting summer at Cub Adventures and Community Day Camps! We have recruited an all-star staff that are ready to welcome you and your Cubs to camp this summer.
Be sure to continue to sign-up your Cubs for camp – It is our intention for summer camp to be run as planned this season. Click here for summer camp options for your Cub Scouts!
We have developed resources to help you continue your Scouting program at home while we all practice social distancing. Take a look at these resources on our Scouting at Home page!
We are fully committed to offering the same quality camping experience this summer that we have in summers past even with the current COVID-19 situation. This is a new adventure that we are embarking on, the likes of which we have not seen in recent history. But it is an adventure we are ready to tackle head-on to make 2020 a memorable and safe stay in camp for everyone. We hope to see you there!
Yours in Scouting,

FALL FEST 2019 – November 1-3 with the pack OR any other time on your own

Hello, fellow scouters and parents!  Just a few quick important things about Fall Fest.  This is an activity with a lot of flexFall Fest 2012ibility.   Scouters may attend any weekend it is offered.  Scouters may camp for the weekend OR come up for a day.  Please speak with any of our leaders if you have any questions.  AS A PACK, our leaders have a cabin for the weekend of November 1-3.  If you are planning to camp WITH US all weekend, please MEET Dan, Mike, Nora and Regina at MUSSER campsite at 6 PM in the parking lot at HART.    ***if you only wish to come up for the day on November 2, our group will be staying at RED FOX  – you can meet up with them there, or the mess hall.  Whether you make this a full weekend or just a day trip, it is always a blast!  It’s always smart to bring your hiking gear/boots and warm weather clothes, rain gear (as a precaution), a good flashlight, some extra toilet paper, a pre-charged phone charger, some snacks and water (though we will have food) and some S’More makings, ’cause what’s a campout without S’Mores! Hope to see you there for all of the fun and comraderie!

ARE YOU READY FOR A SPOOKY GOOD TIME??

THIS MONDAY – October 28 – put on your costumes and let’s PARTY!  Halloween is around the corner and we are going to celebrate it with fun and games, music, food and friends.  Party starts at 6:30 PM.  We had a great turnout for food and drink sign up, so please don’t forget to bring your items!  Once again, I am making my signature witch’s potion – it’s simply to DIE for!  hahahahahahhaBoo

Welcome ALL to our annual Open House

We are all looking forward to meeting new faces tonight. There is a lot of information and fun planned for this evening!

Software Bug – Oops!

Computer Bug

The software module that sends out email notifications received an update yesterday that was designed to include several fixes and tweaks. It turned out that the fix, included a bug that prevented two keywords, one of which was the ###NAME### keyword, from showing the correct details while sending post notification emails.

As luck would have it, our post was published approximately 5-10 minutes before the fix was released which resulted in notification emails going out with incorrect names. We have applied the fix to resolve this issue and apologize for the mishap that occurred this morning

Five Below Fundraiser

Together, with Five Below, we are going to try to raise money by doing something most people already do, shop!

The Five Below at 4640 E Roosevelt Blvd. (located next to the Old Navy in the Walmart and Home Depot shopping Plaza) will be hosting a fundraiser for the next week, from Dec 12th through Dec 17th.  10% of all purchases made, with the flyer, will be donated to Pack 1776.

I have attached a copy of the half page flyer (2 per page). Please print a copy of the flyer and share with as many people as possible. As long as they present the flyer to the cashier, at the time of purchase we will receive credit.  Again it is important to take the flyer as without it we will not receive credit.

Please share the flyer with anyone you know that shops at or may need something from Five Below.

Share, Shop, Donate!!

Calendar Changes

calendarIn order to improve the performance on our website, we will be migrating over to a new calendar within the next couple of weeks.  The new calendar is more feature rich, more stable, more secure, and more importantly is less resource intensive.

Just wanted to give everyone a heads up, in case you see things acting a little flaky or coming and going with the Calendar.

The new calendar application which we will be switching to is called Events Calendar Pro.  The fine folks at Modern Tribe, Inc. have graciously donated the pro version of their software to us for free.  Thank you Modern Tribe!

Webelos Activity Badges Updated

Site NewsJust a quick update to let everyone know that the requirements for all Webelos Activity Badges are completed and online. Simply click on the Activity Badge Pin of your choice and you will be taken to the page for said Activity Badge.  I hope everyone finds this useful.

2012 Scouting for Food Summary

I want to thank all of the scouts, leaders, parents and siblings for their support of this annual program.  While it can be tiresome and seem trivial on the surface this program goes a long way to to helping families who worry about where their next meal will come from.

Last year, the Pack combined with both the troop and the crew collected 1,836 items weighing in at 2,949 lbs. This year the pack alone collected 2,627 items weighing in at 2,254 lbs of food.  To put this in another perspective we collected an entire trailer full of food that weighed 1.25 tons.  We gave almost 300 pounds to the local Catholic Social Services pantry and the remainder when to the food bank at St. John’s Lutheran Church that works closely with Philabundance.

Not only should the scouts be commended for their tremendous efforts but a hearty thank you goes out to all of the parents that helped in many ways. Some walked with a group of kids, others followed behind with a vehicle to collect food items, while others helped unload, count and sort the food.  All of the cub scouts and a few siblings had a great time and all of our cubs most certainly did their best.

After a day of hard work, our cub scouts had a fun filled sleepover at the Marks Scout Resource Building.  They had pizza for dinner, went on an urban night hike, ran around like madmen at the Logan Circle fountain, settled in for a movie with popcorn until they passed out.

Thanks again to everyone involved.

Update:  We had a total of 27 scouts, 4 siblings and 26 adults (leaders included) participate in this service project. This netted roughly 322 hours of community service for the pack
