Scouting For Food 2011

Today Troop/Pack/Crew 155 did our part in the Boy Scouts of America’s Scouting for Food tradition. Scouting for Food is the nation’s largest one day food drive.  We proudly netted 1,836 food items weighing in at 2,949 lbs. To put that into another perspective that is a mere 51 pounds shy of 1.5 tons of food that we collected and dropped off at a local food bank this weekend. [Read more…]

Sleepover, Dues & More

Dues

Dues allow the pack to function, dues allow us to register the boys with the Boy Scouts of America.  We have several children who are not yet registered with the Boy Scouts of America and as such are not covered by our insurance policy.  We are unable to allow your children to attend any pack outings that may be deemed a liability for insurance reasons.  Please get your dues in.  If you have any issues please contact me directly.

Sleepover

The sleepover Saturday night will be our first overnight trip as a pack.  It is important that your children are as comfortable as possible. We will also be going for a mini hike during the evening and it will be cold so your children will need to be dressed appropriately.  Below you will find a list of things that they should bring along with them. Firehouse 2011 – Success

Tonight was a fun night at the firehouse.  The cub scouts and their siblings got to explore 2 fire engines and an ambulance/fire rescue vehicle.  They got a crash course in fire safety both in prevention and what to do in the event up.  Then the firemen gave them all coloring books.  It was a fun night had by all.

The assignment the kids took from this is to do the fire safety worksheet given out to them last week, especially the part where they count the number of fire detectors in their homes.  The fire department will assist the families who do not have enough working detectors in their homes by coming out and installing new detectors for you.

Any parents that took pictures should email me the pictures and we will start a gallery on the site.

Remember we meet up at 9am on Saturday for our Scouting For Food bag collection and then we will immediately take the canned goods to the food bank.

Scouting for Food 2011 Part 1

Thanks to all who came out and assisted with our bag distribution this past Saturday.  We were able to get all of the bags out in a short period of time and the kids had fun getting them out.

Scouting for Food not only benefits the community and teaches the kids how to be a member of the community that others can be thankful for, but it also helps them with achievements and electives in their books, as well as requirements for earning different belt loops and pins.

Don’t forget, tonight we will meet at the Firehouse.  Please  see the calendar for the details.

‘Scouting For Food’ covers the following;

User Registrations Enabled

I have the security tightened down enough to allow user registrations now.  You can register and login to the site via the “Login” link at the bottom of the page.  Once I get to the point where I am working on the theme (appearance of the site), I will go ahead and implement easier ways to log in and modify your profiles.

Over the next couple days you may see some changes to the registration process as I further tighten it down but at this point security is stable and most comment & registration spam should be thwarted.

Enough of that, why would you want to register?

Mainly so you can interact, as we post events you will be able to comment on them engage in discussion or even help plan without having to rely on another site.  More importantly, this is a private site and we want interaction to be among the pack’s community and not just the general public.  Only someone with an active interest in the pack will take the time to register. As a result, as the site matures there is a good chance that things such as photos, downloads, forms etc… will require an active account to access.

Enjoy!

New Event Calendar

The calender is set up, it works and is fully functional.  I just have to populate it now.  This calendar will be the official source for all pack 155 events.

It is a safe assumption that unless otherwise noted on this calendar, or you are notified by other means, that we will be meeting at 7:00 pm at the gym for a normal pack meeting.

Along with populating the calendar, next on the list will be a contact form.  The contact form will allow you to contact any of the leaders individually or as a group.  Then we will worry about appearances of the site.

Enjoy,

Cubmaster.

Welcome to Cub Scout Pack 1776!

Welcome to our new site!  Please excuse the mess while we get this site in shape for your use.  The very first thing we plan on doing before we even begin working on appearances is get a fully functional calendar up and running.  This calendar will be where you can find all of the latest information without having to worry about missing an update. All will be posted here and accessible from any web browser on a Computer, Tablet or Phone with an Internet connection and a web browser.  After the Calendar is up, the next step is to start making the site look a bit more presentable. From there, hopefully the site will find use as a source of useful information for parents and scouts alike.  I hope you like what we have planned here.
